This proposal of Prime Minister Modi was passed in 90 days with the absolute majority, which is the shortest time for any day resolution in the United Nations.

Formal and informal yoga teachers and enthusiasts group celebrated World Yoga Day in support of various reasons on 21st June except for various reasons. In December 2011, International Humanist, Meditation and Yoga Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and other Yoga Gurus supported the delegation of the Portuguese Yoga Federation and suggested to the United Nations to declare the world together on June 21 as Yoga Day. It was jointly organized by the Yoga Association of Portugal, Art of Living Foundation and SVYASA Yoga University, Bangalore. According to Jagat Guru Amrit Surya Nanda, the idea of ​​World Yoga Day came 10 years ago, but this was the first time that Yoga Guru from India was supporting this idea in such a large number. On that day, on 21 June, as the World Yoga Day under the leadership of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the United Nations and UNESCO were signed to declare it.

Controversy


This day was part of the controversy. In order to avoid controversy during the 'International Yoga Day', the government removed the compulsory chanting of "Surya Namaskar" and "Shloka" from the official yoga program and urged the Muslims to take part in the event. AYUSH minister Shripad Naik suggested Muslims read Allah's name instead of Shloka during this program. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board opposed this by pointing out Surya Namaskar against religion. The Muslim minority believed it to be a "Hindu agenda".
